TH-590 Supervised Reading in Theology (Revelation Worldview)

This unit will explore the elements of a Christian worldview in the light of the issues raised by the shift in the west to postmodernism and in dialogue with the Book of Revelation. This will include a survey of postmodernism as a pattern of thinking and its roots; implications of postmodernism for religion and biblical studies (especially with reference to Revelation); a survey of Christian theological responses to postmodernism; and a detailed study of four major themes as they emerge out of postmodernism and are addressed in the Bible, with special reference to Revelation- the spiritual world; revelation as a basis of knowledge; personhood and cosmology; and the status of the biblical narrative in the light of the postmodernist suspicion of “metanarratives” and the trend to interfaith dialogue.
